Thread Seal (PTFE Teflon tape) is a milky white pure PolyTetraFluoroEthylene and is a thermoplastic member of fluoropolymer family of plastics. It is a dynamic sealant, which adjusts its state during the installation. Creates a perfect seal by calendaring the PTFE into film in the exact thickness required between the two pipe ends. It is one of the idealistic materials for pipe joints in a household and industrial applications. Its versatility and unique features makes it widely used is all sorts of plumbing activities right from water to any other chemically hazardous materials

How to use: |
The threaded parts that need to be insulated from leakages should be free from dirt, rust, oil, grease etc. If required use kerosene for this. Dry the threads and then start installing the thread seal tape in a manner as mentioned below.
Beginning at the end of the thread, wrap the tape in an overlapping fashion on the threads in a haphazard manner in the direction of the thread. Concentrate on the end of the pipe and cover only 20mm to 25mm of the threaded portion. The tape being highly pliable easily embeds in the threads.
The ideal number of wraps is,
For ½" Pipe 12 (Fine threads) & 18 (Coarse threads) wraps
For 1 ½" Pipe 16 (Fine threads) & 24 (coarse threads) wraps
For other pipe diameters adjust the number of wraps.

FAQ'S |
Can this tape be used in all sorts of application?
Generally PTFE tapes are avilable in different grades. The parameters like density, elongation, thickness, and chemical stability of Teflon etc vary as per the grade and subject to applications. We recommend the tape to be used in Hydraulic and Pneumatic applications.
What is the shelf life of this tape?
Generally Teflon tape is non-aging in nature and hence can have a life as much as 50 years if stored properly.
How many threads are to be converted with teflon tape for better result?
Ideally for best results a thread length of 20 to 25mm is to be winded teflone tape. But it varies with diameter of pipe and nature of threads like fine or coarse.
For example:
For 1/2" Pipe 12 (Fine threads) & 18 (Coarse threads) wraps
For 1 1/2" Pipe 12 (Fine threads) & 24 (Coarse threads) wraps
For other pipe diameters adjust the number of wraps.
