Adhesive & Sealant - FAQs
Insta Plus Faq's:
How do i store Cyanoacrylate?
Always close lid after use.Avoid direct exposure to heat. sunlight and humidity. If stored outside a refrigerator has a shelf life of about 6 months and if stored in refrigerator the life get extended to about 2 years.
On which substrates is it best to use?
Wood,Metal,Plastic,Porcelain,Ceramics,Craft items, Jewelry, porous and non-porous material etc.
How to clean excess Cyanoacrylate?
To clean small excess of glue simply use paper/cloth. For larger clean u use Acetone or Nail Polish remover with Acetone.
Is Cyanoacrylate or its fumes toxic?
No it is not toxic Fues may cause irritation to sensitive membrances like skin, eyes, throat and nose.
Adhesive Kseal Jhat Pat Faq's
What is pot life or usable life?
Pot life or usable life is the amount of time that adhesive has before it becomes unusable.
What is 'handling time'?
This is the time after which the bonded joints or assembly can be safely handled or removed from any holding jigs or clamps. A further period of time is required to reach full cure and the full performance capability of the adhesive and bonded assembly.
What is cure time?
This is the amount of time required for the adhesive to reach its'specified performance properties. This time is typically temperature dependent, the lower the temperature the longer the time required.
What is shelf life?
This is the amount of time that the customer has to use the material before its expiration date. shelf life varies according to both chemistry, technology and the specific product involved and is temperature dependent (the higher the temperature the lower the shelf life). Typically an epoxy will have a longer shelf life than an acrylic or polyurethane adhesive.
What does surfase pretreatment or proparation mean?
Surface pre-treatment is a process where the substrates are the modified to better accept the adhesive. This can include abrasion, etching, flame treatment. solvent cleaning or even just a dry wipe. Surface quality and preparation is essential for sucess. Poor surface quality or contamination can cause short term or long-term performance problems with the adhesive bonds.
K-Grip Faq's
Is K - Grip Fire Retardant?
Yes K - Grip electrical insulation tapes are fire retardant and indicated as FR on it label packing.
Does K - Grip comply to ISI rules
Yes K - Grip electrical tapes are ISI certified and have IS certification of IS 7809 (Part 3 Sec -1), which also states it is fire retardant.
Can this tape be reused?
Yes K - Grip because of its excellent adhesive properties can be unwounded from the wires and again winded on the wires for several number of occasions and then also it would not loose its adhesion. Hence because of this it has got excellent reusable property.
Does K - Grip has a drawback of telescoping?
No. Generally telescoping happens because of low quality of adhesive that is applied as backing to PVC tape. So it is generally recommended to store K - Grip in a cool and dry place.
K-Vishwas Faq's
Can this tape be used in all sorts of applications?
Generally PTFE tapes are available in different grades. The parameters like density, elongation, thickness, and chemical stability of Teflon etc vary as per the grade and are subject to applications. We recommend the tape to be used in Hydraulic and Pneumatic applications.
What is the shelf life of this tape?
Generally Teflon tape is non-aging in nature and hence can have a life as much as 50 years if stored properly.
How many threads are to be covered with Teflon tape for better results?
Ideally for best results a threaded length of 20 to 25mm is to be winded with Teflon tape. But it varies with diameter of pipe and nature of threads like fine or coarse.
For example:
For ½" Pipe 12 (Fine threads) & 18 (Coarse threads) wraps
For 1 ½" Pipe 16 (Fine threads) & 24 (coarse threads) wraps
For other pipe diameters adjust the number of wraps.
